Core competences
F Iniciativas relies on its strong technical and scientific competences, and among others a management team with 20 years of experience in financing of R&D in France and Europe.
The organization of the corporation is mainly focused on its technical and scientific team composed of partners, engineers and doctors. These teams are under the supervision of a Technical Director and organized within several groups specialized by fields of activities (Manufacturing industries, IT, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical, Food and Beverage, etc...). These teams are managed by technical coordinators who acquired an expertise in financing R&D and innovation activities that allow them to cover all sectors of activities.
Each mission is therefore supervised by managers in charge of engineers specialized in the appropriate sector and sized to the company. Our consultants assist clients in all steps of the process: identification of the projects, financial valuation and preparation of the documentation required for traceability and in the event of an audit by the governmental authorities.
Frascati Manuel : an upstream approach of R&D
Internationally recognized methodology for collecting and using R&D statistics, the Frascati Manual is an essential tool for statisticians worldwide. It includes definitions of basic concepts, data collection guidelines, and classifications for compiling statistics.
In June 1963, the OECD met with national experts on research and development (R&D) statistics at the Villa Falcioneri in Frascati, Italy. The result was the first official version of the Proposed Standard Practice for Surveys of Research and Development, better known as the Frascati Manual. This publication is the sixth edition.
Today’s R&D statistics are the result of the systematic development of surveys based on the Frascati Manual and are now part of the statistical system of the OECD member countries. Although the Manual is basically a technical document, it is a cornerstone of OECD efforts to increase the understanding of the role played by science and technology by analysing national systems of innovation. Furthermore, by providing internationally accepted definitions of R&D and classifications of its component activities, the Manual contributes to intergovernmental discussions on “best practices” for science and technology policies. The Frascati Manual is not only a standard for R&D surveys in OECD member countries: as a result of initiatives by the OECD, UNESCO, the European Union and various regional organisations, it has become a standard for R&D surveys worldwide.
This Manual is the reference document for the definition of R&D operations for all the Ministries of Research within the OECD member countries.
In 2006, F.INICIATIVAS translated and published the Portuguese version of the Manual in collaboration with OECD and was praised by the minister of research and industry.
In 2008, F.INICIATIVAS continued its exclusive collaboration with the OECD by translating and editing the Basque and Catalan versions of the Manual.
In 2010, F.INICIATIVAS was authorized to translate and publish the exclusive Portuguese version in Brazil that differs from the one issued in 2006 in Portugal.
Work performed in conjunction with OECD, in particular through specific R&D subjects such as software development or service activities bring to F.Iniciativas’ teams unique know-how in terms of optimization.
This updated edition contains improved guidelines adjusted for changes in OECD economies, including measurement of service-sector R&D, R&D globalization, and R&D human resources.
